Species: APATITE-(CaF) Locality: Palermo Mine, N. Groton, NH Specimen Size: 1 mm field of view. Cauliflower form apatite on childrenite Field Collected: Forrest Fogg material Catalog No.: u1579 Notes: A carbon tape mounted grain EDS analysis (BC18) showed only P, Ca, O and minor Fe, (likely from the orange oxide coating). The small Si and Al responses are likely from grain surface contamination and the C from the carbon tape. |

Species: APATITE-(CaF) Locality: Palermo #1 Mine, Pod 3, N. Groton, NH Specimen Size: Top photo, 4 mm field of view. Lower photo 1.4 mm field of view Field Collected: Forrrest Fogg 1972-1976 Catalog No.: u1579 - second photo set Notes: Gifted to Tom Mortimer by Gordon Jackson. EDS analysis BC18. These "cauliflower habit" apatites are most unusual. Jim Nizamoff commented on these photos: "These can be somewhat common in childrenite-rich matrix types and especially with siderite. Sometimes they have rather fibrous terminations (I have called these hairy apatites). SEM imagery of these is really neat." |
Species: APATITE-(CaF) Locality: Chickering Mine, Walpole, NH Specimen Size: 1.5 cm field of view. Field Collected: Michael Hutchins 10/15 Catalog No.: A Michael Hutchins specimen and photo Notes: Specimen gifted to Tom Mortimer 11/15. This TN specimen is a testimony to nice specimens are still to be found at the Chickering Mine. |

Species: APATITE-(CaF) Locality: Keyes #1 Mine, Orange, NH Specimen Size: 1 cm crystal Field Collected: Don Dallaire - Oct. 1977 Catalog No.: A Don Dallaire specimen Notes: |

Species: APATITE-(CaF) Locality: Lincoln Mine (Molybdenium mine), Westmoreland, NH Specimen Size: 3 cm specimen with 1.5 cm pale apatite crystal in quartz-feldspar matrix Field Collected: Tom Mortimer 6/2006 Catalog No.: 1531 Notes: Apatite from the Lincoln Mine is fluorescent yellow. The Lincoln "mine" is about a cellar-hole-sized pit. |

Species: APATITE Locality: Palermo Mine, N. Groton, NH Specimen Size: 3.5 mm chalk-white apatite crystal. Field Collected: From a tub of Palermo phosphate rocks gifted by Bob Whitmore Catalog No.: u1899 Notes: Many whitlockite crystals are present on the matrix hosting this apatite crystal. The grayish, oxide-coated, mass to the left of the apatite is whitlockite. These chalk-white apatite crystals are frequently Apatite-(CaOH), however no testing has been done on this specimen. |

Species: APATITE or BERYLLONITE ? Locality: Palermo Mine, N. Groton, NH Specimen Size: 0.5 mm "cogwheel" beryllonite? or parallel growth apatite with pseudo-cubic goyazite crystals Field Collected: Clayton Ford. A gift from Gordon Jackson Catalog No.: u1959 Notes: [tm] My initial impression of this was beryllonite, but other knowledgeable phosphate species collectors have opined apatite. |

Species: APATITE Locality: Corson Mine, Nottingham, NH Specimen Size: 4 mm pale-green apatite crystal in albite matrix Field Collected: Tom Mortimer - 8/30/08 Catalog No.: u2117 Notes: |
Species: APATITE Locality: Turner Mine, Marlow, NH Specimen Size: 2.9 cm x 1.7 cm crystal Field Collected: Bob Wilken - 9/13/17 Catalog No.: Gordon Jackson #4789 Notes: This crystal was initially identified as triphylite. However, bright yellow fluorescence indicated apatite. |

Species: APATITE with mitridatite coating Locality: Palermo #1 Mine, Pod #3, N. Groton, NH Specimen Size: 4 mm field of view Field Collected: Forrest Fogg Catalog No.: u1572 Notes: This is the only Palermo example I have seen like these. |
